Heritage Awards 2024

Celebrating and sharing the achievements of the heritage community in Cornwall

Entries for the 2024 Heritage Awards have now closed

Since 2018, the Cornwall Heritage Awards has brought together the very best projects, collaborations, initiatives and teams from organisations all over Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. There are more than 70 heritage organisations in Cornwall of great variety and individuality, including museums, art galleries, castles, mines, historic properties, industrial heritage sites, archives and community museums. Cornwall’s diverse heritage organisations offer something unique and special; they provide fantastic services for their communities and achieve high standards.

The Cornwall Heritage Awards is an opportunity for us all to come together annually to share learning, connect with other organisations, and shout about all the wonderful work you do. Cornwall Museums Partnership (CMP) and South West Museum Development  (SWMD) recognise the excellence of Cornish heritage organisations, not only within Cornwall, but also regionally, nationally and internationally. The Awards celebrate our museums and heritage organisations, raise profiles within our local and professional communities and showcase best practice.

The core values of the Cornwall Heritage Awards are inclusion and sustainability. We will recognise and celebrate the role and responsibility of museums and heritage organisations in making our society more equitable and inclusive. We will also celebrate sustainability – both operationally and environmentally – acknowledging that museums and heritage organisations are here for the long-term and must be at the heart of caring for our planet and people.

Museums and heritage organisations can nominate themselves for one or more categories. Shortlisted organisations will be invited to the award ceremony on Wednesday 7th February at Heartlands, Pool. The ceremony will take place after an afternoon symposium, at which anyone working in heritage or associated sectors will have the opportunity to find out more about some of the shortlisted projects, share work and network to be inspired about the potential for future practice, work and collaborations.
