Cornwall Museums Partnership

Eligibility

Work nominated must have been undertaken since 1 January 2023.

To take part in the Cornwall Heritage Awards your organisation must be:

  • a heritage site, museum, gallery or archive with a collection and/or site that is accessible to the public or,
  • an organisation or individual that has delivered work at or with a heritage site, museum, gallery or archive or,
  • an organisation or individual that has delivered a heritage project in a publicly accessible space or to a specific group of people

We are committed to ensuring the Cornwall Heritage Awards represent the full diversity of heritage work across Cornwall and also recognise that heritage work is not always delivered in a traditional setting. Please contact us on HeritageAwards@cornwallmuseumspartnership.org.uk if you are unsure of eligibility.

Cornwall Museums Partnership is committed to inclusion and equity among staff, volunteers, audiences and visitors. At their best, we think museums enable greater understanding and empathy by providing a view of the world through other people’s eyes. They can be a focal point for communities, bringing people together, promoting wellbeing and tackling loneliness. To be eligible for a Heritage Award, you will need to demonstrate your organisation’s commitment to equity and the measures you take to tackle exclusion.

We will also ask about environmental sustainability in your organisation as part of every application. All positive actions, however small, will be considered while judging the awards.

The Spirit of the Awards will be awarded to two organisations who demonstrate an outstanding and authentic commitment and action towards inclusion and environmental sustainability.

To ensure we celebrate success across the full scale and breadth of heritage organisations, there will be two awards for categories 1-3 and Spirit of the Awards, based on the size and resource of your organisation:

Larger organisations – those with two or more full-time equivalent* members of staff, or those managed/supported by a larger structure (e.g. The National Trust, English Heritage sites etc.).

Smaller organisations – Any volunteer-run organisation, or an organisation that has less than two full-time equivalent* members of staff.

* Excluding support staff, such as maintenance or catering teams.
